The General Fire Regulations 2010 which supersede the General Fire Regulations 2000 took effect on 27th December 2010 and introduce changes to the fire safety obligations imposed on the owners and occupiers of buildings across Tasmania. (Click here to access)
To reflect these changes the Tasmania Fire Service has revised the Fire Evacuation Plan Guidelines. (Click here to access)
The guidelines have been designed to meet TFS approval requirements. It should be noted that approval by the Chief Officer is limited to evacuations in the case of fire only. TasFire Training warden and chief warden courses cover all types of emergencies and we recommend that emergency plans and procedures should also be written and tested to cater for all types of emergencies.
Generic Emergency Quick Action Guides have also been developed which can assist visitors to evacuate a building in the event that a fire occurs. (Click here to access)
