TasFire Training Code Of Practice


TasFire Training is a registered training organisation. Our experienced and qualified Instructors deliver a comprehensive range of fire prevention, fire safety and emergency response, accredited and industry-based training.
Our Mission is to provide lifesaving knowledge” to Tasmanian workplaces.
We will achieve this by providing industry related emergency prevention and response training. Our primary focus is to assist the Tasmanian Community in achieving effective;


We aim to reduce loss of life, minimise injury, property/plant and to minimise the impact of emergency incidents that do occur.

 

FEES AND CHARGES

TasFire Training reserves the right to determine all training and assessment fees.
Clients pay the agreed fee on conclusion of the training in which they are enrolled. Generally no fee is levied until the contracted service has been supplied. Clients may choose to pay for the contracted service in advance; fees received prior to the supply of services will be subject to the refund policy below.

 

REFUND POLICY

Training clients will receive a full course refund if TasFire Training cancels any course that the client attempts to attend and has prepaid.
Failure to cancel a course booking one week prior to the commencement of a course will result in the full fee being charged.
TasFire Training will endeavour to rebook participants at no charge in the next available course in the event of course cancellation given events out of control (ie extreme weather conditions, failure of training equipment, unavailability of staff due to sickness).

Enrolment in TasFire Training courses is available in the three regional centres and is subject to;

Availability of courses
Sufficient enrolments at the time of the course (a maximum/minimum number of confirmed enrolments applies)
Course prerequisite requirements being met
Ability to pay course fees as determined by TasFire Training

 

COURSE DELIVERY

TasFire Training will deliver training across Tasmania and has regional training centres at Cambridge (South), Young Town (North), and Burnie (North West). We also offer;

Half and full day accredited courses in emergency management
Oral theory assessments for persons with language, literacy or numeracy difficulties
Course delivery and/or assessment at the clients’ workplace
Customisation - of training programs to meet the industry and/or enterprise‘s needs
support to course participants to ensure where possible that  individual training and assessment needs are identified and met

Course materials used in training programs have been developed within a professional training framework and all meet appropriate standards. Training programs combine a mix of classroom and practical work. Individuals will be required to participate in and complete all activities in order to be deemed competent in the unit.

An individual’s competency will be assessed using the key assessment principles; validity, reliability, flexibility and fairness against performance criteria using various assessment methods including;

Written/verbal questions
Practical exercises and simulations
Group activities

 

ACCESS, EQUITY AND SPECIAL NEEDS

TasFire Training is committed to training individuals and employees from workplaces across the Tasmanian Community with the goal of providing lifesaving knowledge.
Participants with language, literacy or numeracy difficulties should advise our training consultants at the time of enrolment to ensure that appropriate assistance can be provided to participants as required.
Students with any special needs during the course should seek assistance from the instructor. If a satisfactory solution cannot be achieved the Manager, TasFire Training should be consulted.

 

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING/CURRENT COMPETENCE (RPL)/(RCC)

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) / Recognition of Current Competence (RCC) should be discussed with our regional consultants prior to enrolment.

 

CLIENT FEEDBACK

All participants enrolling in learning and assessment programs will be encouraged to provide TasFire Training with feedback in relation to training delivery and outcomes and assessment processes and outcomes. 
Course Evaluation forms will be provided at the end of learning and assessment activities and the information received will be used to improve our service.  The feedback information will be shared with all instructors and assessors as part of their professional development.

 

GRIEVANCE SYSTEM

If a training client believes they have been treated unfairly then TasFire Training has a formal grievance procedure as follows;

Discuss the grievance with the course instructor

Failing satisfactory resolution;

Grievances can be put in writing and forwarded to the Manager TasFire Training

Failing satisfactory resolution;
3. Grievances can be put in writing and forwarded to the Tasmanian Qualification Authority (TQA)

 

WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY

TasFire Training has the responsibility to provide a safe and healthy environment for all employees, course participants and visitors. Course participants who are unable to participate in any activity due to health, or other legitimate reasons should inform the course instructor.
Under the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995 students and TasFire Training staff also have the responsibility to;

Undertake activities in a safe manner
Follow all directions given by instructors or TasFire Training staff
Report all accidents, near miss incidents to the instructor or TasFire Training staff

 

CLIENT / INDIVIDUAL RECORDS

Accurate records of training and assessment participation and achievement are kept by TasFire Training. Clients can access their own records on request.

 

PRIVACY POLICY

Written permission will be obtained from course participants (Enrolment Form) before any information about them can be released to a third party, including their employer. Written permission will be obtained from course participants before any photographic or video image is used for advertising or promotional activities/material.
