Participants who consider they are already competent in a unit of competency offered by TasFire Training have the opportunity to gain recognition though a RPL pathway.
Requests for RPL must be in writing and sent to the Manager TasFire Training. Participants are then contacted, briefed on what is required and invited to provide a portfolio of evidence. Evidence of prior learning may include the collation of supporting documentation of knowledge and skills gained in current or previous employment, volunteer work, life experiences, formal qualifications and/or previous study.
A review of the portfolio of evidence will be completed and if necessary, an assessment interview may be conducted.
As required by the Australian Qualifications Training Framework (AQTF) 2007 Standards, RPL assessments are conducted by qualified workplace assessors. The assessors either hold competence in the area being assessed or will work as a member of a recognition panel with a competent person/workplace expert. The assessors’ role is to oversee the process to determine an individual’s level of competence against a specific unit/s of competency, to communicate the results of the RPL assessment and finally to debrief participants at the completion of the process.
RPL will only be recorded at a unit of competence level. Participants seeking RPL must establish the currency of their skills or competence.
Fees apply for RPL assessments and will be negotiated with the Manager TasFire Training.
